ENTERTAINMENT: A SHOE-IN
If you have more footwear than housewear in your home or call yourself a Carrie-Bradshaw kindred
spirit, get thee to this Saturday’s Museum of Contemporary Art “Shoe Ball”—complete with
entertainment by multimedia performance group The Yummies and catering by Three Tomatoes—to see
if you can walk the talk. The attire is shoe-fabu: Slip on your most outrageous, creative kicks
and strut your stuff for a panel of contemporary fashion and art connoisseurs who just might
dub you “Best Shoes of the Party.” Plus, if you’re a shoe-aholic with a passion for art,
$500 will get you a ticket and a guaranteed original work of art created specifically for the
MCA by a renowned Colorado or national artist. Sat 7–11 p.m., Ashbury Event Center, 3011
Vallejo St. Tickets $60–$75. For more information or tickets,
visit www.mcadenver.org.

is expected to see 5,000 participants and raise $75,000. Sun 8 a.m., Niketown, Denver Pavilions,

FUND-RAISER: MUSIC TO OUR…EYES
The Painted Violin project is a fund-raiser to benefit the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. Eleven
distinguished local artists poured their artistic talents onto the “blank canvases” of these
unplayable violins in a collective creative challenge to demonstrate the synergy of art and music. The
violins have traveled the city for two months, but if you haven’t caught the exhibit, the Painted Violin
Carnival and Raffle is your chance. If a particular violin strikes your fancy, buy a $10 raffle
ticket, or a group of six tickets for $50, and you could go home with the ultimate symbol of cultural
appreciation. Sun 1 p.m., Walnut Foundry Event Center, 3002 Walnut St. Free. For more
information, call 303-433-2420 or visit www.paintedviolin.com.
