Anyone playing Xbox 360’s Madden NFL 09 online in Colorado might want to give a closer look to those virtual stadium billboards. News from The Hill says Barack Obama’s campaign has purchased advertising space on the popular video game in 10 swing states, including Colorado. The ads, according to the report, are downloaded via the Xbox’s Internet site, and “began running Oct. 6 and will be visible until Nov. 3, the day before Election Day.” In addition to Madden, Obama’s advertisements can be seen on NASCAR 09, NBA live 08, NHL 09, and at least four other titles. Who knows whether the online advertisements will give Obama a boost, but they certainly hit the 18-to-34-year-old-male demographic in a unique way and represent an interesting melding of politics and technology.
