After a recent spate of store closings, downtown Denver’s shopping scene receives a jolt of sweetener this Saturday with the opening of Sucre. The boutique, whose name means sugar in French, carries a mix of contemporary men’s and women’s styles. Owner Marissa Peden, formerly a Washington, D.C. lobbyist, hand-selected the designs of trendsetters such as Germany’s Ingwa Melero (think colorful vintage cuts) and youthful Ali Ro (sophisticated baby-doll dresses)–which makes shopping at Sucre as surprisingly delightful as dropping into a Parisian boutique. 1444 Market St., 303-825-1945
