MICHAEL KORS FW09 NEW YORK 02-18-09This is the kind of fashion Denver women get–chic, sleek, and tailored silhouettes in luxurious fabrics. For fall, Michael Kors has designed a collection that will look as fabulous in the office as it will at an evening soiree. Kors’ updated classics will keep his women well-dressed right into 2010.

The Gist: Kors started off his runway show with an all-black opening that deftly highlights long, lean shapes, and sharp tailoring: a wool trench, a double-face wool peacoat with portrait collar, lean cigarette pants, sexy sleeveless and one-shoulder sheaths, origami-constructed sleeve dresses, a softly pleated skirt, and supple, shiny leathers worked into a bustier dress.

Kors’ designs in neutral territory –white, gray, camel–play up his interest in traditional menswear fabrics like tweeds, flannels, pinstripes, and herringbones. An injection of neon green, orange, and pink break up all of the sophistication, giving the collection a jolt, just like the curve-hugging silhouettes with thigh-high slits. For evening, Kors forgoes extravagance with cocktail-length dresses in black and pewter.

Accessory Watch: Notice the use of knit sleeves and collars–key trends for fall.
