“Brownliners” Brave Filth to Fish the South Platte


Fly fisherman Tom Teasdale angles in the South Platte River at the “mouth of a 6-foot-wide corrugated-metal drainpipe and downstream from a wastewater-treatment plant,” braving elevated E. coli bacteria levels and carrying a Glock pistol to take on any “shady characters,” writes The Wall Street Journal. Teasdale is a so-called “brownliner,” someone drawn to the low cost and convenience of fishing from less than pristine river waters.
