ari-hestLooking for a break from the standard record-industry rigmarole, acoustic folk rocker Ari Hest spent 2008 apart from production circles, making music for his fans. Each week of the year, the New York-based artist released a new song via his website “52”.

One week, his fan club heard thoughtful lyrics about dead-end living, and the next, it listened to colorful descriptions of East Coast lakes. Over the year, Hest’s followers picked their favorites, and the songwriter has compiled them into the digital album “Twelve Mondays.”

When Hest takes the stage tonight at the Soiled Dove, he is likely to draw on this candid album, just released in March, providing a live show that’s equally as much guitar melody as it is well-crafted storytelling.
