The only thing that could have possibly prevented the white-hot Colorado Rockies from winning their 11th straight game yesterday was a series of funnel clouds that moved through Denver in the middle of the game. But even Mother Nature only delayed the inevitable, with the Rockies cruising to a 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. The Denver Post notes that the winning streak matches the team’s longest in franchise history, tying another 11-game streak in September 2007 that led up to the World Series run. Even the bloggers at Hurdling To Rock Bottom have to admit the team is hot, but they’re predicting a loss Tuesday night when the Tampa Bay Rays come to town. Fan blog Purple Row points out that the Rockies are 3.5 games back in the wild-card chase, something few of us thought possible at the beginning of June.
