kevin-baconActor Kevin Bacon woke up at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday and started the long slog up the trail that leads to the summit of Pikes Peak to play music and raise money for the Love Hope Strength Foundation cancer charity. He was joined by 95 other hikers, including his brother, Michael, also in Bacon’s band.

“It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done physically,” Bacon, 50, told The Associated Press after reaching the top of the 14,110-foot mountain. “I’m in pretty good shape, but it still really kicked my ass.”

The Bacon Brothers, joined by Cy Curnin of The Fixx, played “Remember Me When I’m Gone” to honor actress Farrah Fawcett, who died of cancer last week, according to the New York Daily News. The Colorado Springs Gazette provides an interesting narrative of the day.
