Air Force Academy’s Swine Flu Outbreak Becomes Colorado’s Largest


One-hundred-and-twenty-one ill cadets stayed behind in bed at the Air Force Academy as training commanders marched with their healthy comrades three miles to Jacks Valley to provide a strong first dose of military life: 12 days of tent dwelling, obstacle courses, and weapons drills. Swine flu is taking its toll; 67 freshmen have now tested positive for the illness. And the official numbers will likely climb higher: Roughly one in 10 freshmen have displayed flu-like symptoms in what has become the largest single outbreak of the virus in Colorado, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.
