We’ve already talked about how a library card can save you money, but the library also offers resources that can help your career—and frankly, you may need to take advantage of them now.

The library is getting hit with the city’s deficit and soon will be polling its users for input on its changing programming.

So check out these resources before the axes start to drop. Who knows how much longer they’ll be around?

Find a job. Every Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. the library hosts Jobseekers Appointment Services at the Central Library. There are volunteers on hand to critique resumes, help write cover letters, and assist in online searches. For those of us overwhelmed with updating our resume and trying to crank out multiple cover letters a day, this is a huge help—and it’s all free. E-mail ctc@denverlibrary.org or call 720-865-1706 to schedule your one-hour appointment.

Decide if you’re ready to be a business owner. On the third Tuesday of every month the Central Library hosts an Exploring Business Ownership workshop to help entrepreneur wannabes move from idea to action. The class is free and runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. E-mail training@rmmfi.org or call 303-453-9237 to reserve your spot.

Find your small-business resources. On Thursday the Central Library is hosting a Small Business Fair from 10:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. There are a variety of panel talks, from green business opportunities to a discussion of what certifications will help your organization. One-on-one counseling sessions are also available with members of the Small Business Association.
