I recently did a guest-artist stint with actors, two fantastic young women who have none of my social anxiety and can think very quickly on their feet.

While I won’t be cast in a show anytime soon, I discovered both how enjoyable and how freeing acting exercises truly are. And to fulfill my fix, I’ve also discovered that Miner’s Alley Playhouse offers a six-week acting course, Acting for the Non-Actor.

Billed as an intro-level course (which is where I’d still need to start), participants explore stage movement, improvisational exercises, interactive theater exercises, and monologues and scenes. The next class starts May 10 this week and runs for six Mondays from 7 to 10 p.m., through June 14. Cost is $120.
