Denver resident Charles Gallagher is the owner of a supreme new yacht named Cakewalk that the Los Angeles Times calls an “assertion of American prowess” in luxury-boat construction.

Among the ship’s amenities are a formal dining room with chandelier, a fireplace, six staterooms for guests, Versailles-patterned woodwork, a baby grand piano, a gym, a Jacuzzi, underwater scooters, and much more (via press release from Derecktor, which built the boat). The yacht, with a range of 5,000 nautical miles—enough to easily cross the Atlantic—will launch from the Long Island Sound.

“This is a go-anywhere boat,” Bill Zinser, the captain of Cakewalk and its crew of 25, tells the Hartford Courant.

The 281-foot, $82 million boat is the largest yacht built in the United States since the 1930s. It ranks number 38 on Power & Motoryacht magazine’s 2010 list of 100 largest yachts. The most grand is the 557-foot Eclipse, built in Germany for Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
