All football eyes may be on the Broncos right now, but it’s worth taking a look at what Jon Embree and Eric Bieniemy, the University of Colorado’s new head coach and offensive coordinator, respectively, have planned for their own program. Embree, the former tight ends coach for the NFL’s Washington Redskins, is planning an overhaul of the Buffs’ coaching staff. According to the Colorado Daily, Brian Cabral, the Buffs’ longtime linebackers coach and current interim head coach, will stay on with the new staff, but other changes are coming. Bieniemy, who’s finishing the season in the NFL as running backs coach for the Minnesota Vikings, will revamp the Buffs’ offense, and Greg Brown, a former secondary coach at CU and current co-defensive coordinator at the University of Arizona, will come in to run the defense.

Meanwhile, Alfred Williams, a key defensive play maker on the school’s 1990 national championship team and popular Denver-area drive-time radio host, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame last night in a lavish ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York (via Boulder’s Daily Camera). Williams becomes the fifth CU player to go into the Hall of Fame and the first from the ’80s and ’90s who played on the national championship team. “I was on-air doing my radio show and I broke down in tears; I was so happy to represent the University of Colorado,” Willams says about the day he learned of the honor. And another CU player was honored yesterday, as well: Senior left tackle Nate Solder was one of 16 college football players to be named a national scholar athlete, for which he’ll receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.
