After playing well in the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament, it looked like the University of Colorado would make it to the Big Dance. But the school’s name wasn’t called Sunday in one of the biggest snubs in this year’s announcement of NCAA Tournament teams. “I’m not going to disrespect any team that got in,” says coach Tad Boyle (Daily Camera). “I just feel like…we’re one of the top 68 teams in the country.” Colorado will instead enter the National Invitation Tournament as a No. 1 seed, hosting Texas Southern Wednesday in Boulder (CUBuffs.com).

Some say the Big 12 didn’t argue for CU because the team is leaving the conference, but the Denver Post’s Mark Kiszla thinks CU didn’t make it because Colorado isn’t a true college basketball state. Don’t tell that to the University of Northern Colorado Bears, who knew last week they were headed for March Madness—and now we know who they’ll take on. As the No. 15 seed in the West region, UNC will battle No. 2 seed San Diego State at 2:40 p.m. Thursday in Tucson, Arizona (Greeley Tribune).
