If you’ve ever trekked to the top of a ski mountain in the backcountry, you know how exhausting it can be. Now imagine yourself on the set of a Warren Miller film and having to do it with hundreds of pounds in high-end camera gear. That behind-the-scenes challenge is captured in A Skier’s Journal, which will screen today in Vail, home of Chris Anthony, a former University of Colorado student who has been working with Miller for nearly 20 years (Vail Daily). He’s posted a sneak peek in a YouTube video (below) that shows him waiting for his camera man to get in position before jumping off a 30-foot cliff.

In other uphill battles, the Aspen Times previews three uphill races and hikes taking place over the next nine days at Buttermilk, Snowmass, and Aspen Mountain. The first event, the Chris Bove Memorial Uphill Challenge, gets under way Saturday and will raise money for Challenge Aspen’s scholarship program, as well as the Children’s Hospital Immunodeficiency Program in Denver.
