Stage 4: Steamboat Springs to Beaver Creek (Thursday, August 22)

Distance: 102.9 miles

The queen’s stage of the race gives riders a roller coaster of hills on the country roads of Routt County, before climbing Bachelors Gulch’s 18 percent pitch. After the gulch, riders face a technically challenging descent before the final 2 kilometer climb to Beaver Creek Village.

Start: 11:00 a.m.

Where to Watch: Bachelors Gulch

Fuel Up: Wind down with a margarita and tableside guacamole at Maya–Modern Mexican Cuisine & Tequila Bar, which opened last June. It’s Richard Sandoval’s second instalment of the critically acclaimed New York taqueria.

Don’t Miss: Scout the Stage, a unique citizen’s ride where average Joes, like yourselves, lead out the pros for the first several miles of the stage. Participants can choose a 17.2 or 27.4 mile route to experience the thrill of stage 4.

Stay: Don’t exactly rough it at The Osprey at Beaver Creek, Travel + Leisure’s 2102 top resort in the continental U.S.
