Our Top Picks for September 29-October 5

Get Involved is a weekly series pointing readers toward community-oriented events, volunteer opportunities, and good causes in Colorado.

Girls Night Out: Join local celebrities and advocates against domestic violence this Thursday to support Family Tree, an organization that works to end homelessness, child abuse, and domestic violence. The fashion show, which will be attended by Miss Colorado, embodies its main goal with the statement, “there is no room for domestic violence.” Local vendors and boutiques will provide the fashions and accessories. Tickets are $30. Thu 5:30 p.m.; Redline Art Gallery

Light the Night: This week, get outside, enjoy Wash Park, and help those affected by blood cancer. Last year’s Colorado Light the Night walk raised more than one million dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Bring the kiddos and the pup—there will also be drinks, music, food, and children’s activities. Thu 5:30 p.m.; Washington Park

Campfires and Cocktails: Camping is a rite of passage for many young kids—especially in Colorado—but unfortunately one that not all little ones get a chance to experience. This fundraiser benefits Camp Wapiyapi, a nonprofit that provides hope and support to families affected by childhood cancer, and all proceeds will be used to send patients to camp. Campfires and Cocktails will include live music by local artist Aubrie Hambrick, and a signature s’more martini. Tickets are $5 for anyone under 18, and $45 for adults. At the door, adult tickets will be $55. Fri 6 p.m.; Wapiyapi

Chips n’ Grapes: Help the Colorado Thunderbirds represent the Centennial State at the PeeWee World Championship in Quebec City in February 2015. At Chips n’ Grapes, guests can participate in a poker tournament, wine tasting, and silent auction, which gives guests the opportunity to score an Aspen getaway or a football signed by John Elway. Tickets are $55-$65. Sat 4:00; CoBiz Financial Building
