Comfortable, peaceful, inspired—that’s how Ashley Campbell wants you to feel when you step into a space she’s created. The designer, who opened her own (now-shuttered) retail shop in Cherry Creek North 10 years ago and now continues her work from her RiNo studio, is a master of the layered look. By her hand, textured fabrics and subtle patterns come together to create swoon-worthy spaces. Yet practicality is paramount. After all, says Campbell: “What’s the point of having a room you’re afraid to touch?”

“I found these fabulous hammered-metal wishbones [Gia Sculptures, by Arteriors Home] that are just the perfect size to set on top of a stack of coffee-table books.” Available through Ashley Campbell and HW Home

Most Beloved Space:
“We recently built a guesthouse and pool house that’s my escape from the chaos of my three small boys,” she says. “It’s a really serene spot for me to read those ever-evasive books.”
“Functional fabrics and finishes that don’t sacrifice form”—such as Pindler & Pindler’s Luke fabric in metal, which is one of the designer’s favorites.
Top Design Trend:
“Downsizing. I find it really refreshing to see people scaling back and using every nook and cranny in their homes to the fullest.”
That’s So Colorado:
“Yoga or meditation rooms—places within the home to retreat and ground yourself. They can be as low-maintenance as an offshoot of a room or as large as a bedroom.”
