GQue BBQ Lives Up to Its Championship Status

Prize-winning pit master Jason Ganahl turned his accolades into a brick-and-mortar.


With the number of barbecue places that have recently opened in the metro area, you might brush off the news of yet another spot throwing open its doors. But GQue Championship BBQ in Westminster is different. Jason Ganahl’s championship recipes should compel you to get in the car and drive to Westminster, just so you can snag a meaty bite before the kitchen runs out.

Ganahl, a Missouri native and prize-winning pit master (he’s won multiple prestigious national titles), turned his accolades into a brick-and-mortar. And every item on the menu proves his considerable finesse.


Brisket, cooked on an Ole Hickory Pits smoker, is smoky perfection but then, so are the ribs. Same goes for the pulled pork, turkey, wings, or the spicy jalapeño-cheddar sausage. Couple your choice with the super cheesy mac and cheese, pit-smoked beans, or crispy apple slaw. Whatever you choose, just be sure to get there before others beat you to it.

Tip: Save room for the cherry-bourbon cheesecake.
