Cherry Creek North Welcomes a New Art Gallery

Cherry Creek Art Gallery is the latest addition to the area's tony arts enclave.

There are those who would argue that Cherry Creek North is more of a shopping district than an arts enclave. To that, we would respond: Check out some of our favorite CCN shops and galleries—and stop by the neighborhood’s latest addition, Cherry Creek Art Gallery.

With this new space, which opened quietly in April, owner Lisa Tyler adds gallery manager to her resume. (She’s best known for Gallerie Rouge, a long-standing vintage poster and framing shop.) Tyler was spurred to launch the gallery after moving into her current 2,500-square-foot location three years ago (the building she moved from was being torn down). She originally used the open gallery space to showcase her posters, but after hanging a couple shows with local artists’ work, she realized there was a better use for it.

Currently, 12 established Colorado painters and three contemporary sculptors (most of whom are based in the Denver area) are displaying their work in the gallery; their pieces will rotate every other month, with new additions making their way in. “I always like to support artists,” Tyler says. “It’s such a hard profession. I’m excited about being able to give them this opportunity.” The wide variety of artists and styles includes Ken Elliott‘s colorful landscapes, Julia Mulligan‘s animal sculptures, and Kelly Berger‘s energetic land- and cityscapes. (Her three colleagues from Brushstrokes Studio–Gallery are also showing here.)

Fans of Gallerie Rouge need not fret: The vintage posters are still on display, and the frame shop continues to operate.
