The Golden Triangle is one of the city’s most beloved arts destinations—after all, it is home to four museums plus myriad galleries and an award-winning theater company. The neighborhood was officially designated a creative district in June 2016; around the same time, the Golden Triangle Partnership, a nonprofit that represents the district, launched. After all the changes, the area wants to reintroduce itself with a new event: Final Friday Art Walks kick off on June 30.

“The neighborhood profile has changed so much in the last 15 years. It’s a whole new Triangle,” says Bobbi Walker, owner of Walker Fine Art, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. “It’s really a launching of what we’ve become and the metamorphosis that has happened. We’ve never had this concentration of creative businesses before.” The new series replaces the long-standing First Fridays. It also coincides with the Denver Art Museum’s monthly Untitled events, which run through October.

Walker refers to Final Fridays as a “full neighborhood adventure.” “It’s not just about viewing art, but experiencing and expressing creativity and participating in many of the creative mediums that make the Triangle so eclectic,” she says.

To that end, the monthly event will offer more than just the chance to walk into galleries after-hours. Some venues will host tours or curator and artist talks; Walker Fine Art will have a live band for the inaugural night. There will also be opportunities for interactive creative experiences. Eateries such as Charcoal Restaurant and Pints Pub will offer extended happy hours or other specials.

Whether you’re familiar with the Golden Triangle or not, this summer is the perfect time to get reacquainted.

While You’re There: Stop by the Denver Art Museum to view La Musidora, a new, interactive installation on the plaza. The title combines the Spanish words for music (música) and rocking chair (mecedora). The piece is by Mexico City-based designers Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena and seats up to 20 people at one time.

If you go: Final Friday Art Walks will take place on June 30, July 28, August 25, and September 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. They are free to attend.
