Is there such a thing as too many tacos? We certainly don’t think so—and neither does the team behind the Taco Passport, a new deal book launching June 1 that offers discounts at 21 taquerias around town.

Adelitas Cocina y Cantina, Dos Santos, Pan De Vida Mexican Restaurant, and Teal Taco food truck are among the eateries included in the Mile High City’s newest food/booze passport. (The Denver Passport summer edition is also currently on sale, and even Cherry Creek Shopping Center has its own version for tourists.) For $20, passport holders get two-for-one tacos at each of the participating eateries; the deals are valid from June 1 through December 30.

But what’s even more exciting than a summer filled with tacos is the charity component of the project. At least $15 from each Taco Passport purchase goes directly to three metro-area nonprofits: Food Bank of the Rockies, Lázaro Project, and Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network. “We’re updating an old idea of fund-raising and bringing it to a newer generation,” says Kevin Johns, co-creator of the Taco Passport and a member of Lázaro Project’s board. “A goal of this project is to increase foot traffic for local businesses: Eat local, buy local, donate local.”

So when you’re organizing your next taco crawl, take comfort that while all those delicious calories may not be benefitting your waistline, they are helping others in your community.
