Happy Birthday, Colorado! | August 1
In 1876, President Grant signed a proclamation which recognized Colorado as the “Centennial State” (because it was indoctrinated 100 years after the signing of our nation’s Declaration of Independence). On August 1, 142 years later, History Colorado will host a celebration of the state and its history at museums across Colorado, including the Center for Colorado Women’s History at Byers-Evans House, Fort Vasquez, El Pueblo History Museum, and Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center. Enjoy food, music, crafts, and birthday cake at the main event, where Gov. John Hickenlooper and Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne will be in attendance, at the Anschutz Hamilton Hall starting at 10 a.m. Multiple locations; main event at History Colorado Center, 1200 N. Broadway

The Perfect Pair: Yoga & Beer | August 1
The August edition of Hoppy Yogis is here. The free yoga class will take place at Great Divide’s new location on Brighton Boulevard, followed by some craft beer drinking at the Great Divide Barrel Bar. The event is sponsored by CorePower Yoga and Great Divide Brewing Company, with hands-on adjustments by CorePower instructors. Class starts at 6 p.m., but go early—doors open at 5:15—to get a spot. 3403 Brighton Blvd.

Breckenridge Main Street Art Festival | August 2–4
Back for the 17th year, the Breckenridge Main Street Art Festival will once again highlight arts from near and far. Eighty artists will feature their craftsmanship—ceramics, mixed media, fiber, jewelry, painting, wood, glass, and sculpture—at Main Street Station, in the heart of Summit County. The festival is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Main Street Station at South Main Street and Park Avenue in Breckenridge 

Colorado Scottish Festival | August 4–5
Celebrate your Scottish roots and cheer on your clan at the 55th Annual Colorado Scottish Festival. Formerly held in Snowmass Village, the festival—which features a parade, dance performances, whiskey tasting, piping and drumming contests, nonstop Celtic music, and food—will be held in Edgewater this year. Festivities start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 4. Citizens Park, 5430 E. 24th Ave., Edgewater

Travel the World | August 4
The Denver International Festival is back at Denver’s Civic Center Park for the third year. The festival will feature worldly cultural performances, food trucks, traditional artwork, a beer garden, and kid’s village. The festivities begin at 11 a.m.  Civic Center Park, 101 W. 14th Avenue

Dancing Queen | August 19
Experience Mamma Mia in concert at the Foote Lagoon Amphitheater presented by the Loveland Opera Theatre. Guests can “dance, jive, and have the time of their life” along to the ABBA classics sung by Colorado singers, including Belle Weathers, Michael Foerster, Alex Young, Trevor Valdez, Kyle Griffen, Rob Hoch, Margaret Siegrist, and Mira Madorsky, with accompaniment by Paul Falk. The concert starts at 5:30 p.m. Foote Lagoon Amphitheater, 500 E. 3rd St., Loveland

Break A Sweat | August 25
Camp Gladiator—a full-body group fitness workout—is taking over the Broncos Stadium at Mile High. Lasting 60 minutes, the workout is run by certified personal trainers who incorporate both strength building exercises and cardio into the workout. The CG workout is open to everyone, no prior experience required. The event also includes local vendors, music, food, and gear giveaways. The workout starts at 7:30 a.m. Registration is required; The Broncos’ Stadium at 1701 Bryant St.
