CB2 Brings Its Modern Designs to Cherry Creek North

Crate & Barrel’s hip (and less expensive) sister brand opened its first Colorado location earlier this month.

Nearly 30,000 homes were sold in the metro Denver area in the first half of 2018, according to the Denver Metro Association of Realtors’ data—which means there’s lots of sofa shopping going on around town. Much of that shopping happens in Cherry Creek North, where nearly a dozen big-name furniture stores seem to be competing to create the grandest, glammest showroom of all (you win, Restoration Hardware).

So when CB2, the sister brand to Illinois-based Crate & Barrel, announced that its 15th U.S. storefront and first Colorado location would be in Cherry Creek North—just four blocks from the double-decker Crate & Barrel at 101 Clayton Lane—the only surprise was that it took so long to get here. The first CB2 location opened in Chicago in 2000; until now, the closest stores were in Minneapolis and Austin, Texas.

The sprawling ground-floor showroom, which opened August 10, is located at 210 St. Paul Street, in the first-to-open of two St. Paul Collection luxury apartment buildings. The inventory is pure catnip for design-savvy Denver millennials: less expensive than many Crate & Barrel offerings; scaled to fit in cozy Congress Park bungalows, LoDo lofts, and Five Points Victorians; and awash in brushed gold, matte black, and that perfect shade of millennial pink.

The showroom should certainly be on your shortlist if you’re shopping for, say, a mid-mod emerald-green-velvet sofa, but don’t count it out if your style takes cues from Denver’s natural surroundings. CB2’s more organic designs, like the shesham-wood-plank Dylan dining table, Dondra teak bed, or Fringe faux-leather pendant light, might be just what you’ve been looking for.

If You Go: CB2 is located at 210 St. Paul St., Ste. 100; 303-957-1825, cb2.com. The store is open Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
