It seems not even brunch could save Hedge Row.

The 16-month-old restaurant from Kimbal MuskHugo Matheson, and the Kitchen Restaurant Group will serve its last meal on Sunday, December 2.

In a note to staff that Musk sent out on Wednesday, he thanked the community for its support but pointed to Cherry Creek North’s ongoing construction as one reason for the eatery’s demise. “Unfortunately,” he wrote, “we have to say goodbye, as the timing has not been ideal given the heavy construction in the area. Traffic, parking, and congestion were too much for our tiny space on the corner.”

He noted that dishes such as the Little Gem salad—which our reviewer celebrated as “nigh on perfect” earlier this year—grilled BBQ pork skewers, and old fashioned doughnuts can still be enjoyed on the just-revamped menu at the Kitchen in LoDo. Plus, another Next Door will be opening in north Denver in the spring, according to Kimbal; the restaurant group added a sixth outpost of the Kitchen offshoot in Highlands Ranch last month.

In an email to 5280, Musk said that closing Hedge Row was “a difficult decision” but “the timing was just not right.”
