Best Restaurants 2019: Corrida

There’s a wine renaissance occurring in Spain right now, driven by daring young producers, rediscovered regions, and unfamiliar-until-now grapes. For a taste of what’s new, book a table or nab a seat on the Flatirons-facing rooftop patio at year-old Corrida. There, co-owner and sommelier Bryan Dayton and bar director Andreas Pejovic pour all the hot grapes: Godello, Verdejo, Treixadura, Mencía, Garnacha. They’ve got field blends (multiple grape varieties planted and vinified together) from visionary producer Raúl Pérez Pereira in Bierzo and Galician young gun Laura Lorenzo. And the exploration doesn’t stop there: Corrida has an impressive collection of sherries, brandies, and vermouths as well, not to mention a gin-tonic cart that roams the restaurant weighted down with fresh garnishes and unique bottles. As you sip on any of the above and savor chef Amos Watts’ dry-aged steaks and sophisticated tapas, you’ll rightly marvel that the Spanish renaissance has traveled all the way to the Front Range. $$$$, 1023 Walnut St., Suite 400, Boulder, 303-444-1333
