This month’s Denver Modernism Week—an annual series of home tours, events, and lectures running from August 19 to 28—is sure to get you dreaming about owning one of the Mile High City’s iconic Atomic Age abodes. Their price tags, though, might soon ruin your fantasy: A 2,215-square-foot house in Englewood’s midcentury-modern-heavy Arapahoe Acres was on the market in June for $1.4 million. But that doesn’t mean a modern vibe is beyond your means. These four pieces from local shops will help transform your fallout shelter into a retreat even the Jetsons would be proud to call home.

Denver-based Color Cord’s fixtures, such as the Mod Globe 5 Loop Chandelier ($637), may appear simple, but with the ability to choose from five different mount colors and three globe options (clear, milky, and matte), you’ll never have to settle for someone else’s style.

Sitting Pretty

Amish heft meets Don Draper cool at Washington Park’s Modern Bungalow, where a carefully curated selection of seating, such as Stylus’ made-to-order Enya sofa (starting at $1,699), can give your living room a modern-transitional feel. Its peg legs and square arms are decidedly mod, and with hundreds of fabric options, you can choose anything from a deep mahogany to a lithe birch to a statement-making brick red.

There’s no shortage of embellishments to be found at Modern Nomad, a 5,500-square-foot RiNo space that’s home to seven vendors under one (gorgeous) barrel roof. We’re partial to Zazza House’s Modern Morandi Vase ($161), which blends subtle curves with earth tones and natural textures.

Entertainment Mod(e)

Mix and match Housefish’s modular storage pieces—such as the Key AV media console (from $999) with the Spin Record Player Stand ($699)—to declutter your entertainment area and bring order to the vinyl in your life. The latter can store up to 125 records. Housefish’s optional Birds in Grass doors channel mid-mod’s indoor-outdoor vibe.
