The Local newsletter is your free, daily guide to life in Colorado. For locals, by locals.
When the calendar turns to December, my friends start asking me one question: When do we get latkes?
Though most of my loved ones here in Colorado aren’t Jewish, sharing homemade latkes, or potato pancakes, with them has become a beloved tradition.

But peeling and shredding dozens of potatoes and onions and frying them up in oil—a reminder of the story of Hanukkah when a small jar of oil lasted for eight days—is time-consuming. If your hands are full or your calendar is a bit too packed, it’s OK to call in reinforcements. Thankfully, nine local restaurants are offering special meals and take-home dishes throughout Hanukkah (December 14 to 22 this year) so you can enjoy your favorite holiday treats without having to make them yourself.
