It takes artists years to perfect their mediums, be it painting, sculpting, or photography. For this challenging exhibit, though, Front Range artists will eschew their favored materials and instead turn a white, ceramic mask into a full-blown work of art. Visitors will get to see 215 masks decorated by artists with various backgrounds; multimedia artist Tyra Brown plans to use gold leaf to create a face rising out of the ashes, local painter Bob Coonts’s design will look like a pig, and Douglas Case will use smooth stones to form the head of a fairytale troll.
