Pioneers of African American Film

The Preservery
3040 Blake St. # 101
Denver, CO 80205

Feb 19, 2020 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

African-American filmmaker Oscar Micheaux was born in 1884, and created revolutionary race films during a time when the racist propaganda films, like Birth of a Nation, were highly regarded among whites. In a celebration of Black History Month, attend the third night of this silent film series while dining at the Preservery. Order your meal, then sit back and admire the courageous work that went into the silent film, Body and Soul, which dared to challenge black stereotypes in early 1900s America by showing life from the perspective of African Americans.
