A Modern Baroque
Thanks to this group exhibition, you don’t have to travel to the Louvre or Palace of Versailles to see ornate Baroque art. To create each piece in the show—from New York–based AM DeBrincat’s mixed media portraits garnished with gold leaf to Old Master–inspired watercolors by Michelle Avery Konczyk—the artists incorporated elements of the 17th- and 18th-century style to call attention to materialism and excess in modern-day America. Bonus: To complement this theme, the gallery will host a concert by Baroque quartet Sémplice on June 17.
