A photograph may say 1,000 words—but are they all true? This juried exhibition examines the complex and delicate relationship between the camera and reality. Richard McCabe, the curator at the Ogden Museum of Art in New Orleans, has selected 29 photographs by 10 different artists—seven of whom are Colorado-based—that blur “the lines between the real and unreal, fact and fiction, myth and reality.” Just like abstract paintings, photography that takes a certain amount of creative license asks the observer to explore how we as humans approach lies and un-truths in landscapes and everyday scenes. Stop by the opening reception on Friday, August 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. for not just a peek into the human psyche, but to hear McCabe discuss his selection process.
