School lunches are not known for their culinary artistry or nutritional value. But at this tastebud-tickling event, four renowned Denver-area chefs (including Max MacKissock of Señor Bear and Cindhura Reddy of Spuntino) will try to prove that kids can get both delicious and healthy food for less than $1.25 a meal—the United States Department of Agriculture’s recommended cost for such lunches. During the challenge, which takes place at one of Denver’s newest bars, sample each chef’s cost-friendly meal while you sip suds from Blue Moon Brewing Company. Be sure to vote on the winner because Chef Ann Foundation, a nonprofit that provides free, nutritious recipes to learning institutions nationwide, will include the victor’s creation in their catalog.
