Think back to the cut-and-pasted collages you might have made in school as a kid, and now imagine they were made up of political headlines and avant garde self-portraits rather than pictures of puppies or cars. That gives you some idea of the radical-yet-familiar work of local artist Jessica Loredo. In this solo exhibition, the Denverite uses news clippings, religious images, and photos of pop culture icons to create four-by-eight-foot collages that urge viewers to consider the experiences of those who are politically, personally, or economically marginalized.
