What it Meant to Be Modern, 1910-1965

Denver Art Museum
100 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy.
Denver, CO 80204

Featuring the works of Oscar Bluemner, Charles Burchfield, Stuart Davis, John Marin, and Charles Sheeler, this exhibition explores the emergence of modernism during the first half of the twentieth century. The show houses 18 works on paper that showcase the diversity of the early modernist movement. While Burchfield’s watercolor landscapes combine defined objects and structures with vibrant color and a mystical atmosphere, Davis’s works depict landscapes layered with shapes to create increasingly abstract planes and perspectives. Tue-Sun 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
