Deidre Johnson is the CEO and Executive Director of The Center for African American Health (CAA Health). A community-based, family resource center dedicated to improving the health and well-being of African Americans, CAA Health works toward health equity for the underserved African American community by offering culturally responsive health education and outreach that empowers community members to overcome the root causes of health problems, maximize their own individual health and access health and support services.
Since 2005, we have provided prevention and disease management programs focusing on diabetes, cardiovascular disease, wellness programs for seniors, health insurance literacy, and a variety of health education topics as well as referrals to medical homes and additional community resources. By leveraging our extensive network of partnerships and relationships, CAA Health has provided evidence-based, grassroots health education, health promotion, disease prevention and disease management programs to thousands of individuals throughout metro Denver. While CAA Health’s strategies have evolved over the years, our purpose has remained constant due to a persistent need within our community. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of the African American community.
