The Face of Saving Lives

Patients are at the center of Vitalant’s life-transforming mission, and individuals and organizations partner with Vitalant every day to make that possible.

Quade Marks (center) was diagnosed with leukemia in 2016. He is now cancer-free thanks, in part, to more than three dozen blood and platelet donors who supported his treatments. Mark Meyer (left), like most donors, gives in order to be part of something bigger than himself. For him it’s personal, paying it forward after other donors helped his late wife, Kathryn, fight an overactive immune condition. While a donation center is convenient for Mark, Vitalant offers many other donation opportunities: over 1,000 schools, places of worship and private companies open their doors and hearts to host blood drives. Charles Schwab Operations Team Lead Gina Roth (right) volunteers to coordinate Vitalant blood drives five times a year, helping ensure a safe and ready supply for patients year-round and allowing staff to embrace Charles Schwab’s commitment to the community.
