Booklover’s Ball — Oct. 15
Attend this annual event to help raise money for the children and youth collections at Denver Public libraries because “kids who read become adults who lead.” True. But let’s be honest, you’re really going for the cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Presented by the Denver Public Library Commission. Sat 6:30 p.m. cocktails, 8 p.m. dinner, followed by black-tie dancing. The Denver Public Library, 10 W. 14th Ave., West entrance. $195. For more info or to purchase tickets, visit www.blacktie-colorado.com/rsvp (code booklover) or call 720-865-2051.

Peter Max in Person: Colors of the World — Oct. 14, 15, and 16
Pop goes the easel. World-renowned pop artist Peter Max brings his Technicolor, 60s-style imagery to Gallery M. You’ve seen Max’s stuff—his colorful renditions of the Statue of Liberty were, quite literally, the poster child for the 1976 bicentennial celebration (see the website www.petermax.com). Art is available for acquisition and each appearance is open to the public. Fri and Sat 6-9 p.m.; Sun 1-3 p.m. For more info, visit www.gallerym.com/about.cfm.
