Denver Not So Hot for Sports?

By |

Maybe Denver just has too many choices. The city is in “the middle of the pack” when it comes to the ultimate combination for any sports franchise–winning and selling tickets, according to rankings of 122 sports teams by the national online news affiliate of the Denver Business Journal.

Of local teams, the Nuggets rank highest but place only 50th in the nation. The Broncos hold number 58 and the Avalanche and Rockies are 74 and 78, respectively. The top teams on the list are basketball’s Boston Celtics, followed by football’s New York Giants, basketball’s Los Angeles Lakers, hockey’s Montreal Canadiens, and baseball’s Boston Red Sox. The team at the bottom of the list is football’s perpetual losers, the Detroit Lions.
