When Coyotes Attack, the Paintball Police Strike Back

By |

In the latest report involving wild coyotes attacking residents along the Front Range, a Chihuahua was seized from the heavily-used Belleview Park trail south of Denver, near Pirates Cove water park, as the dog’s owner watched in dismay. The dog’s remains were later recovered by wildlife officials, who launched a search for the coyote, according to The Denver Post. There has been a string of recent attacks and sightings involving coyotes, and the Greenwood Village Police Department has responded by arming officers with paintball guns in hopes of instilling in the animals a fear of humans, ABC News reports. Police have recovered 30 dog and cat collars from one coyote den. 5280 provides some useful advice this month on how to live peacefully with coyotes.
