When Jeff Osaka first opened his seasonally focused Twelve in October, he dished up tiny portions with hefty price tags. Recent menus, however, indicate that the chef has adjusted serving sizes and values to better suit the needs of local diners–and just about anyone feeling the pinch of recession.
Take advantage of the new and improved restaurant with Twelve’s June dining special: On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, select one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert for $35 (tax and gratuity not included).
My pick for the three-course meal would look like this: delicate kona kampachi (seared and sashimi-style) with sour mango, avocado, and red chile; the superb Colorado leg of lamb with roasted ratatouille (read grilled veggies), lavender, and Nicoise olives; and the decadent vanilla budino (Italian for “pudding”) with a thick top layer of sea-salt caramel.
Just for comparison’s sake, this exact meal, without the deal, would run $47.
