The Search for Micah Dash

|

Gao Min, a spokesman for the Sichuan Mountaineering Association in China, says blizzard conditions on Mount Gongga on Monday stalled the search for U.S. mountain climber Micah Dash of Boulder, two days after the body of Jonathan Copp, also of Boulder, was recovered. The two, 32 and 35, respectively, were joined by Wade Johnson, 24, of Arden Hills, Minnesota, whose body was recovered Monday morning. The group was last seen on May 20 at the Mount Edgar base camp, according to The Associated Press.

Meanwhile, Copp’s friends are remembering him in Boulder, including longtime friend Mark Reiner, who notes that Copp founded the Adventure Film Festival in 2005. “Jonny was a living example, not just in climbing but in all aspects of his life, that we are capable of things as big as we can imagine,” Reiner, who is organizing the search, tells Boulder’s Daily Camera via e-mail. The legendary snowy mountain has a deadly history, as the Colorado Daily reports.
