Nikki Marshall’s success on the soccer field is nothing new in Longmont, or even to those who follow women’s soccer. It’s more remarkable that Marshall’s prowess on the field has taken her across the world as a member of the under-20 USA national team, and she hasn’t even begun her senior year at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Heading into her final year, Marshall is already CU’s all-time goals leader, writes the Longmont Times-Call.
The paper caught up with Marshall and discussed what it’s like playing for CU and the national team at the same time, a situation that tested her emotions. In the coming year, she’ll be playing with her younger sister, Shayelyn, reuniting the former high school teammates.
Marshall is considering a career in the Women’s Professional Soccer league, but for now she’s keeping busy playing for the Colorado Force, part of the 37-team W-League, a minor league that feeds into the Women’s Professional Soccer League. Marshall scored two goals Tuesday night in a 2-1 win over the L.A. Legends (via the Loveland Reporter-Herald).
