But The Denver Post recently caught up with Melo, who says he will take his time in making a decision.
“Obviously, everybody knows I’m loyal to the Denver Nuggets community and to the Denver Nuggets. … But at this point in time, I have to do what’s best for me and my family.”
He adds that recent changes with the team—the firing of two top executives, the addition of not-so-noteworthy free agents like Al Harrington and Shelden Williams—won’t factor heavily into his decision. Although he appreciates the Nuggets keeping him in the loop on the general-manager decision, Melo says it won’t exclusively keep him with the Nuggets.
Chris Dempsey, who spoke with Melo for the Post article, also writes a column opining the likelihood that Melo will leave the team after the upcoming season.
