A Few Questions for the Rockies

|

With an ever-hopeful eye on the upcoming Colorado Rockies season, fans and sportswriters are looking to Scottsdale, Arizona, where players are showing up for spring training, writes Purple Row. But even with big investments in Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Gonzalez, and Jorge De La Rosa, Inside the Rockies proposes several outstanding questions, including where to put newly acquired slugger Ty Wigginton. The big hitter can reasonably play all the base positions, perhaps even left field, and the Rockies didn’t give him $8 million over two years to ride the bench.

Question marks also linger over pitcher Aaron Cook, who was an All-Star three years ago but won just six games in 2010 (via the Denver Post). In a video blog, the Post also asks relief pitcher Jhoulys Chacin if he can pitch 200 innings this year and truly carry his weight. Meanwhile, Bleacher Report wonders if the Rockies have done enough this offseason to compete, concluding that a franchise-first division crown isn’t out of the question.
