Cast Your Vote: One Book, One Denver

|

Join Denver’s largest book club—and have a say in what book everybody reads. One Book, One Denver, now in its ninth year, is a citywide book club that aims to foster a culture of reading for youth and adults alike by encouraging everyone to read the same book and take part in community events starting in September.

The youth book, Holes—a fabulous read for tweens—has already been picked, but you can cast your vote for the adult winner. The nominees:

Enrique’s Journey: Colorado State University alumni Sonia Nazario tells the true story of a Honduran boy who faces impossible hardships while attempting to reach his mother in the United States. The book is based on her Los Angeles Times feature series, which won two Pulitzers.

Denver: A Novel: As Denver begins to move away from its pioneer town beginnings, the Hastings family is caught in the middle of a turbulent era in John Dunning’s saga of historical fiction.

The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl: Timothy Egan’s epic non-fiction book uses the stories of a dozen families to tell the tale of living through the dust storms in the High Plains in the 1930s.

The details: Pick just one book or rate one (or all three) on a scale of one to five stars. Voting ends Friday, June 22.
