Find Your Oktoberfest

More than two dozen Oktoberfests spring up in Colorado from August through October. These fun options present a quirkier take on the classic experience.

For Fit Drinkers

Keystone Oktoberfest, September 5

You’ll want breathable lederhosen for Keystone’s 5K Das Bier Burner road run. The prize: a pint of German-inspired ale placed in your sweaty palms when you cross the finish line.

For Cowboys

OktoberWest in Steamboat Springs, September 18 and 19

Trade brats for brisket at the I Love beef Cookoff, where chefs from 15 local restaurants compete in a culinary challenge. There is, of course, a biergarten, featuring all Rocky Mountain brews and live tunes from the Ben Miller Band.

For Celts

Carbondale’s Celtic Fest & Oktoberfest, October 9 and 10

Bring on the green beer! The cuisine here is decidedly Austrian (think schnitzel), but the culture is all Gael: Kilts, bagpipes, and Celtic dancing replace lederhosen, accordions, and polka at this beloved Carbondale celebration.
