Tamayo Celebrates Its Fifteenth Anniversary

The Denver institution is throwing a quinceañera bash on the sunny rooftop with throwback dishes and plenty of tequila.

In 2001, chef Richard Sandoval opened Tamayo on Larimer Square and effectively introduced modern Mexican cuisine to the Mile High City. Fifteen years later, Denverites still flock to the Larimer Square restaurant for Sandoval’s colorful, flavorful dishes—and that’s a milestone worth celebrating.

The quinceañera festivities will take place on the restaurant’s downtown rooftop terrace on Wednesday, May 18. To celebrate the milestone, Sandoval and chef de cuisine Arnold Rubio have crafted a small plate menu featuring a selection of diner favorites throughout the years. This includes seafood plates such as 2004’s salmon Acapulqueño (pan-roasted salmon with a citrus-fennel salad, mint, and a passion fruit-habanero emulsion) and popular appetizers such as 2010’s tiradito de des (seared beef tenderloin) and 2009’s ceviche de atun (tuna ceviche).

In addition to the delicious menu, party-goers can enjoy a lively performance of Latin-inspired music by Sambadendê, sample a variety of Milagro tequilas at a tasting station, and satisfy their sweet tooth with birthday cake.
