Follow Your Fruits and Veggies with Colorado Proud

Celebrate Colorado Proud Month this August with the Department of Agriculture's new program.

By now, the phrase farm to table has become cliché. But thanks to the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s new Follow Your Fruits and Veggies campaign, Centennial state residents will have the chance to glean a bit more insight into how local produce arrives from field to plate.

The program, which launched on August 1, offers Coloradans a variety of ways to engage with the agricultural process. There are Facebook takeovers from Colorado farmers, back-to-school educational opportunities at Douglas and Denver County elementary schools, seed planting events, and a roving Colorado Proud booth that will travel across the state providing produce samples, seed packets, recipe cards, and more.

It’s a chance for consumers to learn about all the hard work that goes into producing the state’s wonderful bounty (agriculture contributes 41 billion dollars to the state’s economy annually), but it’s also a celebration of a new, August-long holiday designated by governor Hickenlooper this year: Colorado Proud Month.

The Follow Your Fruits and Veggies booth will travel around the state, connecting growers and consumers in Denver, Hotchkiss, Grand Junction, and a handful of other areas. For a full schedule, check here.
