The Yawpers’ Triumphant Road Home

The trio will play five Colorado shows before the end of January.

When we last checked in on The Yawpers, the Boulder-born roots/punk band was about to release its first full-length album, American Man. More than a year later, the hard-driving trio is still reaping the rewards of that effort.

American Man earned The Yawpers glowing recognition from the national music press, including shout-outs from Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, and A.V. Club, which lauded the band’s mix of “acid blues and murder ballads”. To wit, their video for “Doing It Right” is styled as a sort of Dilbert-meets-slasher film revenge romp that showcases the trio’s joyfully dark senses of humor and punk-infused purpose.

In a sprint befitting their manic yet laser-focused mission, beginning next week The Yawpers will play five Colorado shows in five days, all with Southern California punkers Agent Orange.

Their Centennial State swing begins at Schmiggity’s in Steamboat Springs on Wednesday, January 25, comes down the hill for two nights at Denver’s Larimer Lounge, then heads north to Fort Collins’ Aggie Theatre before hauling across the state—I-70 ski season closures be damned—for a gig at the Mesa Theater in Grand Junction on Sunday, January 29.

As you might guess, The Yawpers are known for the intensity of their live shows, so catch them next week before they head back into the studio to lay down their encore to American Man. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
